From the Production Dept. at New LifeStyles:

1. Keep it clean & simple – make sure it is easy to read!

2. Show an appealing, real image (not stock)

3. ALWAYS Include your contact information – address, phone, website & email

4. Make sure your contact information stands out

5. Focus on one message – don’t put too much text

6. Use appealing colors that complement your logo

7. Stick with your brand image

8. Set a goal for the ad. Will it persuade people to act?

9. Give them a reason to take the next step

10. Sometimes you have to break the rules to stand out  : )

Today we start a series to address our most frequently asked questions.

Question #1: Where & how is the New LifeStyles guide distributed?

Answer: Our guide to senior living is distributed in many locations & thru different mediums. We start by mailing each new edition to those that have a standing order (those making up our distribution list). These locations include hospitals, physicians’ offices, senior centers, churches, pharmacies, senior communities and care agencies, etc… Some have a standing order for 1 book to keep as a reference tool, while others receive 1000s to distribute over the 6 month run time.

We then place ads monthly national & regional newspapers and magazines offering our free guide (as well as promoting the website, mobile site & App). People who view the ad can call our toll free number, visit either site, download the App to order a copy of the guide.

We also advertise online not only to bring people to our website, but offering the guide as well. We now average more online orders monthly than phone orders.

We sponsor &/or participate in numerous senior fairs, Memory walks, health fairs, community information meetings, etc… where we offer the publication to attendees.

In many areas, our guides are available at CVS Pharmacies (per market, ask your sales representative).

In certain areas, we also mail the guides to the homes of seniors (65+).

If you would like specifics on the number of guides distributed in a specific market, or where & how those are distributed, or if you have any suggestions on our distribution, please let us know. And as always, thank you to our advertisers who make it possible to distribute the New LifeStyles guide to senior living options free to the public!

Purple has always been my favorite color.  Don’t know why, maybe I am a long, lost descendant of royalty (doubtful, although I am often referred to as a “royal pain in the $%#”).  As a kid I loved Grape Ape and grape Kool-aid.

Now, however, purple has a more important, sobering meaning in its representation of the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.  Today, being World Alzheimer’s Day is a great day to show your support for the families that deal with the ravages of this disease, the caregivers that give their last ounce of energy, day-in, day-out caring for the victims of the disease and the scientist racing to find a cure or at least new ways to delay the onset or cope better with the symptoms.

How can you show your support today AND going forward, as the reach of Alzheimer’s spreads, touching more people that you know and love?  Here are five easy ways:

 - Educate yourself on the disease

- Help a caregiver

- Volunteer

- Spread the word!

- Donate or raise money

(Thanks to Rita Altman, R.N., Vice President, Memory Care and Programming for Sunrise Senior Living for this list)

Unfortunately, while I was writing this, there were many new cases of Alzheimer’s diagnosed.  While very few of us can directly find a cure or method to better cope, we can support the victims, families and caregivers.  Take action today!  It can be as simple as spreading the word through social media, signing up for a fundraiser or taking dinner to a caregiver.

Thanks!  Doug

New LifeStyles has partnered with 1800homecare.com to bring our clients more leads and views.

To offer their end users more options, 1800homecare.com is now displaying home care providers pulled from our database.  This means more views for whose listed in our database! If information about one of our providers is requested from 1800homecare.com, the lead will be forwarded to New LifeStyles & on to our advertisers.

No longer do we just make calls on our mobile phones… now we take pictures with them, surf the web with them, use them to find a nearby restaurant or address, text, email, check-in…  You name it! So why shouldn’t we be able to find senior living options on them? Now everyone can!

New LifeStyles has just launched our mobile web site. A simplified version of our web site, offering a quick and easy search to find the perfect senior living option. Users can also order a copy of any of our print guides.

We believe this site will be very useful to:

  • Social workers, discharge planners, & any other professionals helping seniors & their families find care options
  • Adult children who are told that their parents can not go home from the hospital alone, as they need care & rehab.
  • Tech savy seniors who are starting to consider the good life of retirement.

All of these people can now find the information they are looking for on one easy to use site, built for the smart phone. It’s easy to read with very few short forms only where necessary.

They can:

  •  Map a location
  •  Call a provider
  •  View a slide show
  •  Read a description of community & services
  •  Link to provders sites to learn more
  •  Email questions & more!

The mobile site is fed by the same comprehensive database of nationwide state licensed providers and more, as our web site, so users can find senior living options from Alaska to Vermont (and Hawaii).

Check it out and let us know what you think!
