Is it just me or are you becoming overwhelmed with information too? Every day I get at least 3 webinars invites & the same number of offers for white papers in my in box. I could make a full-time job of attending training sessions and reading-up on new findings. There is no way I can do my job and keep up with all of the offerings, no matter how enticing they may be.  Now maybe I’m in too many groups, on too many message boards and have signed up for too many newsletters, but I get a lot of good tidbits here & there.

We offered our clients some sales and marketing seminars earlier this year. We held the webinars monthly and saw a steady decrease in attendance. Although we received nothing but positive feedback from attendees, we have backed off to quarterly webinars (I’ll let you know the attendance results after the June presentation).

I think it’s very important to continue learning and keep up with the latest findings, especially on the online side of things, but you have to be selective! I listened to so many webinars & teleconferences on social media last year and will now only consider those directed at my industry. I don’t need to know what worked for the Gap, or a local dress store, although it’s interesting and might get the wheels turning, it’s much more helpful for me to hear what is & what’s not working for other publishers & for senior communities and care providers.

We have also tried to divide & conquer. If one of us comes across a webinar or white paper that could be of interest, one of us attends or reads it & passes along the information we received and ideas we got. These days, most companies record their webinars, so if it’s really good, then the team can go back and listen at their leisure or at a brown bag lunch, but we know it’s worth it since a team member has made the suggestion.

So I will take the time to be a bit more selective in my groups and maybe unsubscribe from some emails. What will you do? Do you feel the same? If you have any suggestions for our mailings, please let us know!
