This Sunday, AAHSA kicks off their 2010 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles and New LifeStyles will be there exhibiting in Booth 810. The exhibit hall will be open Monday 11/1 through Wednesday 11/3 from noon to 3PM.
The AAHSA Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity to get updates on the latest trends and innovations in our industry, gain valuable knowledge on a vast array of topics, be entertained and above all else, interact with hundreds of your peers, sharing thoughts and brainstorming on what we can do to make the future brighter for our clients, residents and companies.
New LifeStyles will be there discussing the latest in new products that we are adding to our print and online products, as well as our web design services and our new search engine optimization products. While many of you have your web sites, what you do to promote and drive traffic to them will determine your return on investment. Our team will discuss this more in detail on Wednesday in this blog.
Please stop by and see Stacee Howse and Bob Gowdy. They would really like to discuss our various products, our new digital books, new things coming in 2011 and also show you our great web site and some of the site we have built for the many clients in our industry.
We will see you in LA! If you are going to be there, let us know and we will look for you.

Another week closes out and the calendar starts leaning heavy in the 2011 direction. Here are a few articles to help us prepare for the remainder of fall and the challenges of 2011:
Your community is stand above the rest and is unique; make sure you tell your story:
Cool Tools of the Tech Geeks:

Providing access to care and tools for the visually impaired will be an increasing challenge:
If you ever have the misfortune to have a fire in your home, two things will be huge when it comes to averting disaster, accessibility and responsiveness. You want to be able to reach emergency services immediately and you want them to be at your home in seconds. These two words are keys in emergency services, but should they be keys in your business or community? Yes, without a doubt.
When people are contacting you or your company, they have a purpose. They want to know more about your community or services. They may be ready to purchase, they may be ready to come in for a tour. What happens if you aren’t available to take their call or if you don’t return their call within a couple hours? The customer loses a little enthusiasm, maybe doesn’t feel appreciated and wonders about this option. Most of the time, they are calling multiple communities or companies. If you don’t make it a point to take the call or return the call in an urgent timeframe, that lead could be lost forever.
Responsiveness is a close cousin of accessibility. If a customer needs information, has questions or even wants a quote, don’t sit on it, move quickly to answer their question or address their need. The longer you wait, the slimmer the chance of closing the deal. Seems like common sense, but I can tell you there are people don’t get it.
Accessibility and responsiveness are two easy weapons you can add to your sales arsenal. You don’t have to have a Masters degree or years of experience. You just have to care about the customer and care about your community or business. Customers are impressed by quick and thorough response. I hear it all the time, either from a positive or negative viewpoint. Instill this in your DNA and make sure it permeates through your organization. You will reap the benefits.
What are you or your company doing to make sure you are accessible and responsive? Review your procedures and make sure they are set up to impress the customer!

Web sites are like all of your marketing materials and even like your communities. They need to be updated regularly and sometimes even need a complete overhaul. When it comes time to re-design your website take a moment and make sure that you have gone over these five steps:
EVALUATE EXISTING SITE – What do you like about your current site? What part(s) of your current website would you like to stay in place in place on the new site? Have you gotten positive and or negative feedback from certain part(s) of your website? Have a meeting with your staff and get their feedback on what they do and do not like about the current site. You may find that you only need to make adjustments to the current site instead of starting over completely.
INDUSTRY COMPARISON- Look at your competitors websites. Do a Google search and find out what your competitors are doing. Go over these sites with your designer and get his/her feedback.
DECISION MAKER- Make sure the right people are working on it and giving ideas. The final decision maker needs to be involved in each step of the process, or it will take much longer than expected. When you have a meeting or call with your website designer, the person who will have the final say needs to be there.
HAVE YOUR IDEAS READY- Your website designer will need your ideas and input from the very start. Relying solely on your designer to come up with a look that will blow you away tends to slow things down. The designer will create a fabulous design that is really visually appealing, however if he or she was not given the needed input from you, the design could be completely different from your own vision.
SET DEADLINES-Everyone needs to be on the same page. Set up a timeline with your web designer so that everyone knows when certain things will be done and whose responsibility each part of the website is. Having set due dates for each step of the way keeps the process running smoothly and more efficiently.
